I've not bothered posting much on here recently. Conditions have been
really sh*t for the past couple of months - wind has been non-existant or
marginal/un-exciting when it has blown. Today at last though solid
waveboard windy plus decent tide times for an after-worker at Shoreham. Had
to rig my old crappy Rock 4.0 instead of my favourite SF4.5 as it was so
windy but glad I did. Perfectly powered to start and jump ramps a plenty.
Attempted a couple of forwards straight away which were both cr*p.
Fortunately Rod saw them and collared me to tell me in no uncertain terms
what I was doing wrong. So back out again with Rod sailing behind, foot off
the gas, bearing away much more, no trying to jump big
and...rotation...splosh...back slap...and thumbs up from Rod. Apparently
there was no doubt it looked like a (very crap) forward with the board
ending up pointing into wind, and definitely the most rotation I've
achieved to date. It felt 1) completely un-dramatic but also 2) very
easy...certainly different to most of my "attempts" to date. I tried a
couple more after this but fatigue and increasingly mental wind were
getting me frustrated so I reverted to standard groove-riding for the last
part of the session.
So definite looping progress is being made now. Thank you Rod. Can't wait
to go again. :)
